A graffiti artist since adolescence, Brian Donnelly (born 1974), known professionally by his moniker KAWS, received his BFA in illustration from New York's School of Visual Arts in 1996. He has collaborated with brands such as Supreme, Nike and Comme des Garcons, and his work can be found in the collections of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. L'Atlas est un artiste parisien né en 1978. Fasciné par l'écriture manuscrite dès son plus jeune âge, il se rend dans différents pays arabes dans les années 1990 pour y étudier la calligraphie. En France, il commence à développer son art du graffiti, qu'il combine avec sa passion pour l'écriture. L'équilibre entre la forme et la lettre est depuis lors au coeur de sa pratique. Ses oeuvres prennent pour point de départ la signature de l'artiste - L'Atlas, qu'il décline de milles manières. À partir des années 2000, il privilégie le gaffer, avec lequel il trace son nom sur différents supports, tels que les toiles, trottoirs ou façades d'immeubles. L'Atlas crée un alphabet tout en méandres qui, ancré dans la ville, invite à s'interroger sur l'universalité de la langue et les limites de l'illisible.
